I recently bought a skeeter bass boat that i'm pretty sure is a 1976.. the number on the back is STE01710M76K 76 ...... i'm assuming the last two digits (76) are the year of the boat? I'm pretty new to bass boats so I may have some stupid questions but i'm trying to get any info i can on this boat.. i took a couple pics but i'm not sure how to post them yet.. from what i can tell the boat is in pretty good shape but i'm not exactly sure i know what all to look for.. this is my first fiberglass boat..this yr boat would have wood that is fiberglassed right? I have got in the boat and jumped on the floor and it seems to be very strong what is a good sign of weak or bad transom or floor.. some of the storage compartment lids are a little week or have broken pieces where the hinges are.. what is the best way to do redo this.. how hard and how much am I looking at to rewire it completely with new gauges and everything? how much would it take to restore a boat like this?

Re: 1976 skeeter?

The last 2 digits of my HIN are 92 and my boat is a 1992 model, so I guess you're right. I don't know anything about restoring a boat but I'm about to spend around $250 on new materials to redo my livewell/bilge pumps, nav/anc lights, and related wiring. How does the motor run?

And I didn't mention the chunk of $$$ I spent on the new trolling motor....

Wiring isn't too difficult if you have good wiring diagrams, but the sky is the limit on how much it costs to restore a boat. Boats aren't cheap, no matter what you pay for one initially. I'm looking to redesigning the winch mount/bow stop (probably $40 in steel plus welding supplies on hand) to handle a Bow Buddy since my boat stop mount is pretty crooked since using a Bow Buddy. I also need to replace a fish finder ($150) and try to find the leak in the plumbing ($5-50?)for the rear live well since the boat doesn't collect any water when only the front livewell is in use. I wouldn't mind replacing the 5-speed 12V foot controlled trolling motor with a 24V Minn Kota Auto Pilot ($700), but that will have to wait for now since I also need to replace the tongue jack ($40) because the original one is just about shot and is setup in a location so that I can't lower the tailgate on my Titan with the jack all the way up unless I am almost perfectly straight. Anymore than a slight turn will probably damage the tailgate.

I forgot to mention that I have an '85 SF-175 with the original Skeeter trailer. Did I mention that boats are expensive?
