OK a few more pics..... then Ill stop for a while... I was just so stoked that I got the boat on the trailer (by myself which was a stupid idea) a story for another day. My neighbor owns a auto body shop and he gave me some real nice black and gold striping tape, after I told him I planned on buying some boot-stripe tape. It was super cool of him to give me the stuff (he even gave me crash course on how to apply it properly, and it saved me some dough. Anyway, it seemed to me the black was not enough pizzaz... and the gold was a little too thin. So I fig, why not tape with them both. They turned out good. I thought I may have gone a little overboard with the tape when i decided to tape the trailer... but after stepping back and looking it over now that its done.... I think it adds nicely to the trailer too. I was getting excited yesterday. Then I realized how much more work is ahead

Is it possible to buff/polish rusto after it cures, to knock down some of the peel?

That is a good lookin boat.

Supposedly most paints you can wet sand with 1500-2000 grit to try and knock down the peel.

That stripe looks awesome and very pro. Really makes that trailer stripe look awesome.

OK guys...... I cut the floor out and what a PITA without a template. The last 2 pieces took me hours to cut...fit...trim...fit...cut...etc...you get the idea . I do have one question, when you all did your floor I assume you used a 4' sheet (cut), then another 4' sheet cut. This is how I cut my floors out. The last piece did not land on a stringer (very bow piece, nose cut) so basically there is no support under it. It is very soft to walk on and its 5/8 ply. I cant imagine epoxy stiffening this piece up much. So what gives, or was it that the original floor was cut from rib to rib about every 4' or less so that it would work out better? Weird anyway... the last pic has the piece in question. Anyone know of a way to stiffen up this area? Enough rambling..... heres a few basic gratuitous non-epoxied floor pics.

Nose cut.... under this joint is fairly weak....I wouldnt worry so much, however even with the bow/cushion bench there wil be about 8-12" of this area exposed to people walking.

Boats lookin good. The deck took me a long time, and I used some noodles to reinforce the little piece in the bow. Not sure if it helped or not, but as you say it isn't going to take much weight.

Looking good, I like the pinstriping as well

As far as that bow piece goes, I see a couple options:

-add another layer of ply underneath, epoxied to the top piece to add stiffness
-put some foam under the deck and compress it down so it adds structural support
-switch over to 3/4"

I did not have this issue, posibly due to what EZ mentioned.

I think I did the same so that the end of the stringers supported that bow piece.

Also keep in mind that once the rest of the boat is bolted in there will not be as much flexing due to the consoles and bow benches holding stuff together.

EZ.... what was it sistered with ...something like metal straps?
Here are 2 ideas I may do, the first is 3 metal type joining straps.

.......-add another layer of ply underneath, epoxied to the top piece to add stiffness.....

O I may do the one HA mentioned as in the lower pic and cut out a piece of ply and adhere it to the underside with PL and screws before applying the epoxy.

I'd laminate like a piece of 6" wide piece of plywood (overlaps 3" on each piece) to the underside of the aft piece and then laminate the nose/bow piece to that. Lots of lamination area, solid.

Does that make any sense at all?

Hey guys.... I plan on getting back to work on the SC tomorrow. I know its been a few weeks... . One question, I know 2 fairly heavy coats of rusto take quite a while to cure. How long would you let it sit before wetsanding to knock down some orange-peel?

jayb123 - Looks nice - when you getter going we can meet up in Chautauqua or Kinzua - don't sweat the paint job - once you do the interior nobody breaks out the magnifying glass - the whole thing will look great

ya thx guys.... that sounds good SC65. Im really hoping to have it done in a few weeks time.... I always wanted to go yachting on chautauqua . That will be my new goal... to be h2o ready by the middle of August.

Hey guys I have a stupid question... I should have taken better pics of my stern/transom before the resto, since I didnt.... im outta luck. Anyway, I have skimmed through several resto threads trying to get a pic of the area but still It doesnt help. What I am doing is JB welding these non-needed areas/holes so I can work on drilling needed holes in my transom before epoxy.....

Heres a pic:

Heres what I do know:

Red = Transom cap holes (2 on each top)
Green = Eye bolt holes (2 each side)
Purple = More transom bolt holes (3 each side)
Yellow = Scupper/drain holes (1 each side)
Blue = OB mount holes (4 total)
Black = Knee brace bolt holes (6 total)

What I dont know:

-The 4 orange square areas...... I believe the bottom right had a transducer (which I removed)
-The top right may have had a trolling motor? (which was removed when I bought SC)
-I totally forgot what was on the bottom left (if anything, I dont remember removing)?????? :facepalm:
-I dont think anything was on the top/mid left ... was it possibly a swim ladder which was removed?

that is one sweet SS. Colors are awsome. You have given me new hope so now I can get back to work on mine.

I'd fill all the orange ones. Use a backer of some kind or they'll "pop".

(if I had to guess, I'd say the 4 orange ones on the port side were also from a kicker bracket at some point)
