If the rear line of the skeg on your present gearcase goes straight down, you need the unit from 1973 through 1977 V4. If the skeg angles back towards the propeller, you need the unit from 1977 up.

The older units have two water tubes to the water pump housing, newer ones have one water tube.

the skeg angles back towards the prop will this work on any other hp other than a 140, IE 85 to 115

In 1977 only the 140 20" unit will work as is. The 25" 115 and 85 will work if you change the driveshaft and shift shaft.

Any 20" V4 from 1978 & newer will bolt on but you'll need the shift linkage from the powerhead, including the intake manifold.

Nothing from 1976 & older will bolt up.
