Is it Correct that the impeller should seem a bit oversized for the metal housing? I had to bend the fins to fit it in to the housing. I put it together and it seems to work, plus the old one had bent fins( it seem right I guess ).

One More thing seemed strange: While removing the old impeller, the shaft pulled from the lower end enough that the oil must have poured into the space that the shaft seats with the gears below( the shaft began to spring back up an inch or so ) Would this be good for lubrication or is it going to blow a seal or something?
Just looking for a little reasurance.
Thank you.

the impeller fins do bend they should be facing clockwise when you are holding cup in hand looking at it. the shaft should be fine mine pulles out to and i just slide it back in. happy boating

It sucked some air into the gearcase when you pulled the shaft up. That air is what is making it spring up and down now. Don't worry, it won't hurt anything and the air will escape after awhile.
