I just pulled out the 351 Windsor that was in it and I am installing a fresh rebuilt engine in it. I left the outdrive in the boat and just pulled the engine,my problem now is I am trying to line up my new engine to it and its a real hassle,to say the least!!!!!!!!!!!I have pulled several car engine in my life, but never a boat,I would greatly appreciate anyones help on what is the best way to line up the splines,I am about 4 inches from bolting it up,BUT like the old saying goes a inch is as good as a mile! and to pull the outdrive out would best to be the way but that also looks like a B.........to get to the bolts, what should I do????????? Take a trip to Cally and jump off the Golden Gate Bridge LOL,,,,,,,,,,,,I really need someones expertize on this one! Thanks Chuck:confused::mad:

I usually pull the drive and intermediate too. Assemble it on the floor and reinstall. Good time to replace the rubber transom seal (boot) and check the stringers where the rear mounts are lag bolted in for rot/soft wood, and install some nice new lag bolts anyways

but really, it's not usually difficult the way you are doing it. A helper pivoting the intermediate using the drive as leverage and you leveling the engine and turning the crank...should slide right in
there is no master tooth on the spline or anything goofy like that. easier than most car engine installs.
