Hi all,

I just got the above motor, model #: 35753H. It looks to be in good condition but the internal wiring is shot. The wiring is just dust inside the insulation. I was going to just follow the wires back and replace as I go, but they are falling apart too fast and that makes it about impossible to follow. This motor has the "black" plug, if that matters.

Can anyone post or send me a wiring diagram for this motor? I've got a manual coming but it will be a week before it gets here.

Thanks,

Shane
shanewms@sheltonbbs.com

Hey thanks a bunch G Dane!! That will help out a lot. I just wish I had all kinds of different colored wires to run in order to replace these.

I do have another question. It looks like my wiring is corroded all the way to the black plug. Would there be any negative effect to removing the plugs and directly connecting the wires? I was hoping to be able to splice in my wiring ahead of the plug but it is falling apart all the way back. Interestingly enough, on the other side of the plug (that goes to the ignition switch) the wiring looks pretty good. Go figure!!

Shane

When I got my 74, Evinrude 25hp the plug was shot, so I used one of the round trailer plugs and female adapter and rebuilt my own wire harness. I think the plug I used had enough ports for six wires, 2 magneto wires, +12, choke, I think that was it as far as the little wires go. As for the battery cable wires I drill a couple of holes next to the female recepticle and place a rubber gromet in each one and ran the battery cables out those holes. Or you could just find a marine outlet and get them to order you a new wire harness for a unrealistic amount of money. :)
Good Luck

What gauge wires do I need to use to re-wire this? 12 or 14?

Thanks,

Shane

I ran my +12V in 12 ga. just because I like biger wire, and I used 14 ga. on the rest. Theres not much current being used in those wires, the relay for your starter is handling most of the load. The smaller wires, I like to think of as signal wires.

Good Luck
