I purchased a 1977 johnson 70hp boat and motor. The bottom end has been changed and now the controls are backwards for forward and reverse. I understand that I need to get a matching control for bottom end. This would be easy if i knew the year of the replacement. Any idea of what control units would work opposite of the 1977 or is there a simple solution.
Thanks,
Strommer

the problem is, the linkage on the motor, not the controler. and i don't remember the exacts, and don't have a manual for either.

You'll need the shift linkage from a 1973 to 75 3 cylinder powerhead. Another OMC control box won't do you any good. You could use a box like the Teleflex boxes that allow you to mount the shift cable for either push or pull for forward.

Any idea of a part number for the linkage I would need?
