Update: Finally removed the old sheared key way. Installed new woodruff key. Reinstalled flywheel, and reset timing to 14 degrees. Took the boat out and it ran flawless. Ran around the lake all day Saturday, and didn't have any issues. Not sure why the flywheel key sheared to start with. When I took it off to install the new stator I didn't use locktite on the nut threads. I used locktite this time, so hopefully I don't have anymore issues.

Thanks

Were the tapers ok? Clean, dry, not scored good mating surfaces etc...?
Was the nut torqued down to spec?

Either of those (if not correct) would cause a slip of the flywheel and a sheared key..

Just a thought.. lol

tapers looked good, I torqued the nut to 105 ft/lbs last time, and this time...just used Loctite this time. So hopefully I wont have any issues. I marked the flywheel, shaft, and nut with a white marker to watch to see if it starts to back out.

If you got that locktite on the tapers, you may never get it off again.
