Re: 1977- 75 Evinrude very high idle missing choke solenoid

When on muffs I can see them open. Fully horizontal. I finally got my parts in to attach the choke solenoid so I'm going to install that. I checked resistance in ohms on my coils they are steady around 1200.

That stuff you see on the carb bowls is black paint. Mot sure if previous guy painted it or if these come black over blue.

I am maybe thinking the carb butterfly's or getting sucked closed due to the air intake?.... We shall see

Replaced some fuel fittings, connected the choke solenoid. Launched again and ran around for about 10min full throttle and all finally! but after that the symptoms came back, could still put put around, got back to the dock and let it idle. Felt the tell tail stream not hot at all, felt the heads not hot. I did notice the engine kinda missing and hint of backfiring? maybe a slight cough back out the carb a couple times. Decided to move it back into a cove where i could keep it over night and seemed to regain a little more throttle but not full throttle. I did pick up a timing light finally so ill be checking the timing especially during the misfiring to diagnose which plug is doing it.

Im trying to find some coils locally, but im feeling the coils could be doing this when they warm up.
