2nd layer of glass is laid, for a first time I think it looks good. Now to make supports on the bottom of the hull which I'm going to use 1/2 wood and fiberglass it in and I am going to lay the floor lay some more glass and then the cap can go back on

Before you install the floor make sure the measurements for the top of the hull sides is the same as the original measurements. Once the floor is in, it will be almost impossible to get them back which could cause top cap installation to be problematic.

I'm glad you said that, because it didn't even cross my mind. And also I still have some 3/4 drops so I'm using that for the supports instead of the 1/2

Uhhhmmm did you NOT take measurements prior to removing the cap? This could Bite you. I'd measure the cap to determine as best you can what the measurements for the top of the side should be. You can use nylon straps to pull them into configuration. also you can screw wood planks across the top of the sides to hold them in place.

Sorry to scare you wood. I did take measurements and luckily I am still good at the originals. I put the supports in and the floor. Also I do have a question with my next step, i am going to sand it tomorrow, and I am already $100 over my budget. Would flex seal work as a paint layer? Or do you guys have something else in mind I should use?

I am NOT a Fan of Flex seal, but I'm a total believer in Rustoleum Pro Oil Based paint with the added hardener. Check the last link in my signature.
