There were a lot of Airguide tachs used back when that motor was new - that's aftermarket. They connected at the engine's terminal block, connecting the colored wire on the yellow and gray wire and the black wire on the ground.

They usually say "made in USA by Airguide on the face of the tach. Some of them have a blue A symbol with a circle center.

so the colored wire gets hooked up to a yellow with grey tracer or to a yellow and a grey wire

Two wires with yellow color come out from the flywheel and connect to the terminal block on a 1977 V4. One is solid yellow and the other is yellow and gray. Describe them any way you like. :)
