1977 evinrude 55hp outboard

I played hell trying to figure what year this motor was. The only decal on the motor is the serial and model numbers. Anyway, I need to know how the starter cable is connected. I have the male end which is coming out of the motor but I cant find the female end. Is it a simple task to rip the old one out and replace it with one that has both mating.

(1)Find the top wire which is the ground,and below that on the side at the bottom of the starter on the side is the positive wire,or(2)Remove the three bolts from starter to powerhead once removed the starter motor can be lifted
