am puting my lower unit back on can any one tell me were the water tub goes on the water pump on the left side or right side thats all am likeing to get back on the lake thanks

There should be two water tubes on that. What happened to the other one?

only had one ask the boat house thay said that year had one dont know

Well one is a pressure relief return tube, and it isn't all that important except I wonder what effect all that water going through the mid section is going to have. If you look up into the mid section you should be able to determine which side the tube is on. Normally, there's two tubes that run down in parallel.

i cut the one i had and made two i watch when i went back together with it and thay both went on the tubs in the motor the boat house here in ponca city ok should now all about boats

when i start the motor it should shoot water out of the two hole with out it beening in gear am new at this before it did not put new water pump in it hope it does now

i got it together and it over heating i pulled the hoses of the heads and theres no water going there it and theres no water shooting out the holes either put in new water pump i hope its in there right i put it in the way the motor turns help dont no what to do now

OK, is it a 20" drive or 25"?

If it is a standard 20" V4 drive from 1976 or 1977, the water pump has two holes for two water tubes and there are two water tubes coming down from the engine. See the pump in the thumbnail by clicking it.

anybody have a picture on the water pump showing the way it should go in to turn with the motor thanks for every one trying to help

If you only have one tube coming down through the midsection, put a hose on the water tube that you have and see if water goes through the engine. You should loosen one or both of the hoses at the bottoms of the cylinder heads to look for flow when you do that.

Put the impeller on the driveshaft with the key in place and push down on the housing while turning the driveshaft clockwise; the impeller will go in the right direction.

i took the hoses of the heads an run water threw them and it came out the bottom holes might be water pump and its new may be its not in wright

What bottom holes?

The two water tubes coming down from the engine are in the correct position to be inserted into the two holes in the water pump. If you don't have them both inserted, the pump will not work properly.

You cannot test water flow through the engine that way, put the muffs on the gearcase water intake and try it if you don't want to drop the gearcase.

i took the lower unit back off and run water threw those tubes and water came out of the top hoses and i check the water pump and it was burning its all black the water pump still good but no water i put it in a big bucket of water and it still no water shooting out
