In my original thread, [http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=188478] I stopped in to ask about a mystery part. With the help of a few posters I was able to identify the part, and eventually replace it.

The next issue I found was no water was pumping. Again, with the help of some posters I was able to drop the lower unit and replace the impeller. However, still no water running. Last night I dropped the lower unit again and found I had not put the water line back in correctly. C-A-R-E-F-U-L-L-Y put the lower unit back on and tonight I couldn't find my muffs. (!#@!^@$%^) I ended up filling a tub full of water.

It took me a bit to get the motor started, but once it did, no problems keeping it running at idle speed. Still, no water out the pee-hole, though the water jacket on the motor was nice and cool. I let this run for 3-4 minutes with my hand on the water jacket which was staying cool (before it'd get hot in seconds), but still no water coming out the tell-tale.

Finally I couldn't stand it and pushed the throttle up a bit ... and ... she pee'd like a champ. Nice luke-warm stream with the water jacket staying very cool. The tub was big enough to allow me to slip in into gear which it ran at idle without stalling. I gave it a bit of gas and blew a bunch of water out of the tub so I shut it down immediately. Ready to go!

THANKS EVERYONE!!

I have some pictures I took at various stages of repair/disrepair. I'll try to get the loaded up and provide a narrative for them.

I'll have the boat in the water on Thurs or Sat this week for it's maiden (for me anyway, its a '76 :) ) voyage.

I have a Seachoice 11681 Kill switch I would like to install. I have been searching around the internet for an hour or so and haven't turned up much.

If anyone has any ideas I'd be all ears.

How about an easy question to start? How can I determine if my engine will use the mageneto or coil connectors?

Connect a ground and a wire from the orange wire from your harness ( key "off" post on ignition switch to the terminals on your kill switch.

Thanks for the info, does that connect to the coil or magneto connectors on the kill switch?
