Couple of problems with my outboard.

No one else can start it but me. Took it into the shop and it does start. Shop adjusted the choke.

Here is my start procedure:

Pump bulb to hard.
Pull choke out.
Pull start motor. Coughs about 50% of the time and stalls.
Push choke in.
Pull start motore. Starts right up. When my friends use the boat, can't ever seem to start it. I start it this way all the time.

Has new plugs, been decarbed etc. Idles great and starts up with half pull when warm.

Problem 2:

Reverse sucks. If prop has any weeds at all, prop will not spin even.

Comments?

1 Get freinds that are more mechanically inclined8)8)
2 Do you mean the prop won't spin or has no thrust

That's the funny thing, they are mechanically inclined. Just can never start the motor. I go over, it starts right up.
Prop spins, Moves boat ever so slowly. If I hit any weeds, Prop stops spinning.

Is this the way it is supposed to work?

Some of the 7.5 and 9.8 engines built in the mid 70s were all most impossible to back up with a clean prop, The was even a service bulletin on it
