So the plunger in my choke solenoid was missing. I was lucky enough to be able to use the plunger from my Merc 650, same part number. However, I can't get the solenoid to engage when key is on and button is pushed. I even turned the engine over and pressed the choke, still nothing. Any suggestions.? The last thing that I want to do is take the cap off this thing everytime I go to use. it. Thanks in advance.

Maybe the coil is bad, harness wire is broken or the choke button is bad. Jumper 12 volts from the starter solenoid to the choke wire to see if the choke energizes.

I jumped from the starter solenoid to choke solenoid, no luck. I also took the boat out today for it's splash. It idled good, ran slow great but then tried to give her has and it seemed bog down a bit. It quit once doing this. I got it up on plain a couple of times. Once the prop seem to slip, overrevved abit. Anyway I was coming in to the launch then it just quit and wouldn't start again. I just packed it in and came home. Frustrating

Just an update. There were two issues with this. The wire between the choke solenoid and the wiring harness was broken. I repaired that but still did not work. I traced the issue back to the control. Somebody along the way decided to re wire the control but did not hook the choke wiring back up on the ignition switch.
