Re: 1977 SeaRay SRV 240 Restoration

Yikes, that's a lot of work you've done! Nice going... our project boat is on hold as we're in the middle of building a 10x20' shed/office space. Hoping we'll soon have more room in the garage for our boat project... Any progress pics of the transom replacement?? We have a little rot and hoping we don't have to redo the whole thing (seems like a common item on these old sundancers though).

Re: 1977 SeaRay SRV 240 Restoration

This weekend I put in the plywood for the transom and first layer of CSM on the top of it. I used the PL glue method, seemed to work out good. Clamping was a bit of a pain since I didn't remove deck and top half of boat. It was a tight fit but went in nicely. Still have to put another piece of plywood put it's not as wide and not as high as the main piece of plywood. I only get the weekends to work on the boat since it's stored at my parents house. I hoping to have the boat finished around May of next year.

Picture shows without the CSM...

looks like a fun project and it'll be a splendid yacht when you've got it done!
Will be definately following your progress through the winter!

You're doing nice work. I applaud your efforts. I bought this beauty already done. It's a '79 but looks just like yours. We're located in Hawaii and just crossed the Molokai Channel in almost gale force winds..
quite hairy but the boat is solid as a rock. Keep it up, the boat's worth the effort.

Thanks, I just about finished with the transom just going to put couple layers of 1708 over it all. Then onto the rest of the wood/fiberglassing. Slow progress put only have the weekends to work on it.

Your boat looks great. Where did you get the radar arch? I want one for my boat.

I'm not sure where the second owner got it from. He used round teak spacers to make them fit so it probably came off another boat. I'll look tomorrow to see if I can find a brand name.

How much does it on the trailer weigh? I have my eye on one right now, on a triaxle trailer, and am fearing for my tahoes tranmissions life, and debating doing what you did and renting a uhaul f150.

Not sure but my 1995, 350 Tahoe (4x4) handles it well (going on a year now) and that's up and down Oahu's terrain (0-1000' and back down again.
