1977 Seahorse 9.9, This Motor can be Run upside down U-Boat Style Right ?

Nieghbor flipped his boat. Not a drop of water under the bonnet.

I got the boat running for 60 seconds earlier in the week.

I/we can't get it started now.

The plugs have fire.

The plugs are those funny looking ones, look like glow plugs.

Does anyone know what were the original plugs for this engine ?

I think the needle is stuck, yet the bowl can't be accessed without climbing Mt. Everest. Tried tapping on the bowl as best as I could.

I don't know why it started earlier and wont now.

He doesn't have a U-Boat license, yet he's getting close to qualifying.

Originally the plugs would have been AC M40FFX or Champion L77J4

Modern equivalent of L77J4 are L77JC4 but the currently recommended plugs are Champion QL77JC4 or QL82C. gapped at 0.030"

nothing funny looking about them though ... ordinary looking spark plugs!

You will need the Q series plugs only if you run the engine with a battery attached to both the engine and additional electronics,like a GPS or high end fish finder. these plugs have resistors inside that prevent electronics distortions
