I am going to repower my boat it is a 22 ft searay with cuddy if that helps, I want more hp, it has a 190 omc and a electric shift stringer outdrive, wanted to go with a 454 eng, but I was told it would be to heavy, and to go with a 350 chevy, i also will have to do some transome work any advise would be appreciated.

Moving to Boat Restoration and Building.

You'll get a better response there.

If you go with the 350 what are you going to use for an outdrive? There are not many fans of the OMC set-up here.

If money isn't a problem, go with the 454, more torque is always better. Otherwise the 350 would be good.

Of course, that's size-wise. Are you going to replace the outdrive and transom kit too? With what, exactly?
