I'm still waiting to get my trailer back from the welding job.

Didn't get much done yesterday since I took the Admiral to the last county fair of the year in Elkhorn. What a muddy mess due to all the rain we've had.

I did get most of the wiring done. Decided not to use any clips and went solder seal butt connectors all the way and ground wires direct all the way to the tail and side lights. No chance of bad frame grounding.

Finished the wiring this morning and hooked it up to the car. Everything works perfectly thank goodness.

Dark, dreary, stormy day today with lots of thunder. Even though I'm working in the car port I'm having a hard time getting motivated and moving in slow motion. Predictions are for rain and thunderstorms 8 of the next 9 days. I have some items I need to cut which means getting soaked running back and forth from the car port to the back covered patio where the saw and grinder are.

At least got the new keel roller shafts cut and drilled. Put all the assemblies together and on, just need to adjust them so they're all the same height. Installed the new safety chain. Didn't get anywhere near as much done as I hoped for today, but plodded away slowly through the storms.

Spent the last couple nights cutting steel for new winch post bolt plates and wood for the forward bunks. OTF should be ready by tomorrow night to do the final coats of Helmsman before I carpet them.

Got them mocked up tonight along with adjusting the keel rollers to the same height and installing the new roller bunks.

Except for some final painting and installation of the winch post assembly, this trailer is about done. It was a nice break, but I'm ready to get back to working on the actual boat.

Dang it's getting dark out so early these days :(

Thanks guys.

I painted the first new bolt plate Wednesday, so that one is done now. Glad I have a 2nd drill press at work. I just finished machining the winch mount plate and will get it primed and painted before I leave tonight.

Nice Fabrication work!!!:thumb:

Thanks Mike. The only hard parts were laying it out based on the perfect balance point in the new electric winch and driilling the two 3/4" countersinks in 1/4" steel. Had to buy a better countersink than the old worn out single flute I had.

Yeah I understand. I'm trying to drill 1" holes in 1/4" steel and My drill press won't go slow enuf. Gunna try and fabricate a larger pulley to slow it down a bunch more.

That's where I like the 16 speed 3 pulley I have at home. I can go down to 220 RPM. 1" you should be no higher than 350 in steel. My 5 speed at work will only go down to 540.

YUP that's what I have A 5 speed @ 540. Pretty sure I can make a bigger pulley to reduce that by half.

One of the best accidents I've made is buying an old Rockwell drill press that had a 3phase motor... the guy gave me a VFD with it so now I can just turn a knob and infinitely adjust the speed (within reason).

I hate changing pulleys lol

Well, I have an Old Sears wood Lathe that I restored and then put on a VS Treadmill motor. It works great but not much Torque! I've seen Drill presses converted to TM motors too. I might have to give that a try as well.

Got the winch post mounted late last night with the new lower bolt plate. This afternoon I mounted the new top plate and finally the wireless remote power winch. It also has an emergency hand crank I'll install later.
