All,<br />I have a 1977 Johnson 140. It is a great running motor, but recently I have been having issues with the T/T. About 2 months ago, my T/T stuck in the up position and I couldn't lower it. After much consultation with my manual and help from Joe Reeves, I ended up removing the check/shuttle valves and releasing pressure behind a valve. Everything has worked fine since untill last week. The motor is Tilting up and down fine, but now it will not trim all the way down. It tilts down fast (like its supposed to), but when it gets to the trim cylinders, it stops. The trim cylinders continue to go all the way in. Do I need to repeat the process I did earlier? Is pressure trapped again? What can I do to prevent this from be a regular occurence? Does a sticky valve need to be replaced? I took the advise posted here stating that when trailering you should tilt the motor up, lower the "rest" bracket, and then lower the T/T all the way down untill the trim cylinders are pulled all the way in. Any idea's on whether I need to pull those check valves again, and how to prevent this from happening again would be greatly appreciated. You guys are great! :)

Anyone know what could be causing this? Since I have fixed it already, I don't mind doing it again (if that's what the problem is), but I don't want to have to fix every 6 weeks. I guess I will look at replacing the check and shuttle valves. Anyone know approx. pricing on those off hand and a good source to purchase from?
