1978 15hp evinrude powerhead

I hope everyone had a safe 4th, I want to replace the powerhead on a 1978 15hp evinrude, serial number 15804B can anyone help me out with what years and hp powerheads will work ? I have a siezed motor and am looking to change it out. Will a 9.9 work/? I would like to stay with a 15 and boat is rated for a 20hp. Thanks for the help, be safe and have a great summer...

Yes, the 9.9 powerhead will work just fine. Just dress it in the 15 reed plate, 15 exhaust tube, and 15 carb. Might even get away with just using the carb. All else will be the same.

How did it seize? If it overheated, make sure that is dealt with while you're in there.

Thanks for the reply and help was a flood motor i believe everything else is good lower looks good new prop bad under head, and covers.
