whats should the compression numbers be on a 78,or 79 -75hp 3cyl chrylser outboard??<br />and what is the best way to check them.

Don't know what the numbers were when new, but with numbers in the 100 - 120 range, it should run.<br /><br />The only way to check them is with a compression gauge, cost about $25 at most auto parts stores.<br /><br />All sparkplugs removed and grounded to the block.<br />Throttle set to wide open.<br /><br />Expect higher numbers if the engine is warm, lower if it is cold.
