I believe the steering cable on my 78 Crestliner has broken. The steering will turn the engine when the cable is pushing out, but engine does not turn when the cable pulls back in.

The steering has a rotary drive mechanism.

The problem is we can't figure out how to remove the steering cable at the engine after the drag link attached to the engine has been disconnected.

There is not enough room at the side of the engine to pull out the stainless steel output end attached to the cable. We cannot see that this end can be removed from the cable and I can't believe they would design things so that you had to unbolt & remove the engine to replace the steering cable.

Thanks for your suggestions, Don.
