Dose the rubber part of the seal go in the housing first or metal surface?

~ is the rubber side of seal, dose it point to inner seal or away from it when installing?

There are 2 propshaft seals pressed into the bearing carrier. The first seal is installed with the rubber lips facing forward.

The 2nd seal, the one that's visible with the propeller & prop thrust hub removed, is installed with the lips facing rearwards (towards you).

That means the spring also, I think I put it in backwards
