I just took my new to me boat out and it ran great wich im so glad because i had heard some negative thing about the 470 motor that it has in it. My question is the boat leans to the left a little when you get in the water im assuming that is because the fuel tank is on that side and it was full of fuel. My second question is that it has a tendencey to pull to the left when you get into the throttle any comments on this would be greatly apperciated. ( It does not have power steering ) My third question is when i park it for the week or two untill i can get back to the lake should i lower the outdrive down or should i keep it raised up. Other than the stuff i just listed im very very happy with my new boat.

The leaning left / pulling left is normal. It can be counter-acted by adjustment of the trim tab (it may not ever be eliminated but it may be less).

You can store your outdrive in any position you like. Up or down....... no problem (only in the winter will it matter ;)).

Since this is a new to you boat....... keep an eye on your oil level, yout fuel filter and water separator, keep an eye out for oil leaks water leaks on the 470 and most of all make sure your impellar has been changed and is in good shape.

Another thought is to always drop it down a bit to relieve the stretch on the bellows and make them last just a bit longer!
Enjoy your new boat!

Outdrives are best sitting down to prevent the bellows from developing a 'set'. Mercruiser has recommended this for years. But, it seems to matter most in winter, when everything is less flexible.

Are you familiar with the unique design issues of the 470 that require you to be extra diligent? You seem to know something about the 470

You can add a (name escapes me) trim tab thingy behind the prop. It's actualy an anode that will also help prevent corrosion to your outdrive. There's a mounting point under the AV plate behind the prop. It's sits with an offset to counter torque steer.

Thank you guys for the information i did lower the outdrive when i parked it i had heard that it would keep the bellows in better shape but know i know that i can leave it up during the summer months and keep it lowered in the winter. I did alot of homework on this engine when i was looking at buying it i heard about the over heating problems with it and i hecked it out very well before i bought it and the people that i bought it from had taken excellent care of thi boat all the fluids where good before we hit the water and when we got home i rechecked everything and they were all full still we ran it for about 7 Hrs and the temp never got over 150 deg. Philster could you inform me of anything else that i should be watching out for the main one that i was really keeping a very close eye on was my temp since i had heard alot of horror stories about the 470 and its overheating problems. Thank you.

Philster it has one of those thing that you posted a picture of is that what you can adjust to make the steering alittle better and is that the anode also or should i be looking for something differant. And do you know how i would adjust the trim tab to make the steering a little better. ( And the steering is not so bad that it is affecting the overall operation of the boat just thought i would check into it )

Yes, it is also an anode to protect the drive. There is a bolt on the top that you loosen to turn it, the size escapes me now since its been a while since I've owned a merc. Adjust it like so:
