i have a 1978 evinrude 115hp that is slow to accelerate. Compression on all cylinders at 110. Carbs been rebuilt, it has a new fuel pump, new plugs, drained the gas and put new in, new fuel lines, new fuel filter. At first start it floods itself out and i have to pull the hood off and manually "floor it". It will start fine then, idols good, goes in and out of gear good but on take off it, is really slow to acceleratel. After running the motor for about 30 min at 5200 rpm, it runs like a raped ape on plain. Once i back down to idol, something under the fly wheel is squeeking. It sounded like and old tricycle wheel. This motor had not been run since 2007 according to the previous owner. Does anyone have any ideas?? Could it be the timing plate base or trigger?
