Hi everybody. I recently aquired a boat with a slight problem.

I tried looking for the model number of this motor but I couldn't find it. I looked on the transom and I couldn't see any freeze plugs on the motor. I just know 1978 Evinrude 140HP V4 with electric start and power tilt and trim.

I am going to try to rebuild this engine. My main concern right now is: Is the cylinder re-sleevable?

Thanks, any other advice is appreciated. :)

Sure is, if you can find a machine shop that has the experience to do it. I'd be concerned with what other internal damage was done to that motor. Piston pieces had to go somewhere.

i guess that one didn't seize!!!
parts for those engnes are everywhere, i think all of the v-4 models of that era were pretty much the same block/bore/stroke. BUT i have been known to be wrong once!

i get mine off of ebay, right now there is a nice v-4 block, cheap. i myself prefer the weisco pistons, a tad bit noisier, but will handle nitrous!!!
