Hey guys,
Just picked up a boat with a 1978 Evinrude 20hp, model number 208CR02. I know CR stands for Canada Derated so I'm thinking it's just a derated version of the 1978 25hp, which is the closest model I can find in the catalog.
Problem is the 208CR02 doesn't show up anywhere online for parts lookup. The closest I can find in the 1978 catalog is the 25803C which appears to be the electric start 25hp for that year, same as mine.
Can I use 25803C parts across the board? Specifically looking to start with the water pump impeller kit and carb rebuild kit.
Also curious if anyone knows what the actual derate was, carb jet, throttle stop, or something else? And whether it's worth undoing.
New to boat engines but I work on my own car and got an old mower running again that hadn't seen any love in forever so I'm comfortable getting my hands dirty. Feel like a small outboard is a perfect engine to really learn, just want to make sure I'm grabbing the right parts before I start tearing into it.
Any help appreciated, can't find much info on this model anywhere.
Thanks
