1978 evinrude 55hp stalling

I have a 1978 evinrude 55hp It starts fine but when you run it to about 20mph It shuts off but will start fine is you drive lower then 15mph It works fine what you think could be the problem any help would be great thanks. It's great to be part of this web site!!

There are several items that could cause high end performance issue.Insure that the fuel filter is clear, the fuel tank is venting freely and the fuel tank pickup tube is clear and unobstructed.You could try pumping the fuel primer bulb when engine begins to fall at higher speeds and see if it enables the engine to pickup.If so ,would be indicative of failing fuel pump.You could also have fouled carburetors limiting the fuel flow.If all of these check out your next culprit could be a timing or ignition problem.
