Re: 1978 galaxie 22xl
Ok everyone, went over to the storage today and took pics of the boat, bad thing is the camera was set too high of resolution I guess, will not let me upload the photos.
Does anyone know how to resize the images?
The good news is the floor all the way back to the soft spots which are just in front of the motor, and on each side of the motor is solid.
Where the ski storage is in the middle where the center stringer is, the cover, wood with carpet over it is perfect. Also the wood for the side panels in the back looks perfect as well there is not rot on either side.
Took core sample, small one out of the center stringer which is completely dry. Sigh of relief for a 1978 boat.
Took core sample of the left side motor mount, initially it came out dry, went in another inch or so, and I think the wood was slightly damp, not like mulch like the one post I had seen was, definitley not that bad.
There are shadows around where the deck meets the back of the transom, seems like the deck back there is intact but needs to be replaced.
I took pictures of the center stringer where the ski storage is, and you can see toward the front of the boat, I expected foam to be there, but do not see any. Does not look like they ever put foam in on either side of the middle stringer.
I did feel one little tiny spot on the right side of the transom, but for the most part I do not see any stress cracks on either the inside or outside of the transom, the rear of the hull outside either.
Really want to get these pics resized, I am anxious to hear what you all think of what I should do. I just want to use the boat for the summer, and then maybe do some repairs approaching the fall.
