I have just about ruined my camera with all the resin, paint, and other junk that has found its way on it.

Well, now I need to kick it into high gear...the engine is done!

Its been run, broken in for an hour on the stand, timed, rebuilt carb, MSD Street Fire Distributor, etc...my instructions were to run it like I stole it...its good to go. Now...where is that warm weather.

If I am correct you cannot use that Distributor unless is is Coast Guard approved. Might want to check on that.

Other than that it is time for you to get crankin!

Good catch! I think they forgot it was for a marine engine...just called them...back to the shop for the right one...no problem.

Cool. Its nice to deal with an honest business.

Meaning, an inspection by the CG or DNR?

I'm more worried about blowing up!

Transom is done...just need to sand this weekend!

Continuing to put motor back together...hoping that can be mostly buttoned up this weekend too.

Can I put my 2 cents in and say that I hope you go with a tan upholstery material on your glastron? I really hate the yellow upholstery stuff in it now!!!:redface:

Both boats are super nice. The blue is a nice color. I would like to own a glastron carlson myself. A guy in my area a couple of years ago had a really nice original carlson in your yellow color scheme with a jet and 455 oldsmobile engine in it. It was the prettiest boat I've ever seen on the water in person, and it was darned fast as well! I like the looks of an i/o, but don't trust them as much----probably because I don't know much about working on the stern drive stuff. THe evinrude looks nice on the back of the blue one----I am an OMC guy myself, although I like to run other folks' mercury's when I get the chance and love the looks of a tower of power.

Thanks! Yeah, I am kind of torn right now, as I'll probably have to sell one of them eventually...unless I find a reasonable place to store them.

Anyway, the McD's yellow will absolutely not be on the boat when its complete. Here's the proposed color scheme:

I'm new to this forum but I have found it to be very helpful. I have a 1979 Glastron Carlson CVZ-18 and I am trying to find the location of the fuel pump. Any help will be greatly appreciated! Danielle

Ok, engine is back...fully rebuilt, broken in, and ready to install. I haven't taken as many pictures as I would have like to...but...here's where I'm at:

Slowly but surely making progress:

Does anyone know where the tilt/trim lines are routed? Once goes up on the transom, and one goes to the pump I *think*... the good old Clymers manual shows nothing of course:

The one on the right is 'cloth' covered, the left one is just the standard steel braided:

Does the steel braided one mate up to this steel one coming out of the pump? Then the black 'air' line goes to where I have the white air line coming out of the transom right?

Well, its not flashy...and I have a bad solenoid, so I'm jumping that in order to get the starter to crank over.

But...when I'm not running video, I was able to keep it running no problem by squirting gas in the carb. (I don't have it hooked up to the gas tank yet.)

Here's a quick video. I just used a very tiny bit of gas...so it only fires for a few seconds. Too cold to run any water...so that'll do until spring rolls around.

Its huge for me. Thanks. My Dad (who I lost in October), my son and I worked on this boat together, talked about it often, planned, discussed, etc. To have this boat finished...will be a great tribute to him, and 3 generations of my family.

So...you could say its an emotional experience.

I don't have the fuel tank hooked up so its really just sputtering on the fuel I poured into the carb...but its ready to go:

Got all the fuel lines run today and just had to fire it up...if only for a few seconds.

Wow, what a fantastic story!! I can't wait to see video of you taking her out on her first voyage in many years.

I think that the choice of which boat to sell is a no brainer, since your dad (R.I.P.) and your son helped out with the Gold Glastron, that's the one you should keep.
