Re: 1978 Johnson 115 hp won't fire on all cylinders

I am replying for my husband, he told me that he is going to check that out and he does not have a water fuel seperator. He is going to check out the sneezing and the motor running lean. He said he has to make an adjustment to the carb. to fix that, however he is not sure where to make the adjustment at. Can someone please tell me so that I can relay it to him. I also want to add that this problem started after he removed the spark plugs and cleaned them up. He put the plugs back in and the next time we took the boat out it was missing and backfiring. Do you think these problems are from that?

i would give the carbs a good cleaning and soaking.
re install new gaskets and level the float.
blow out all the jets and passages.
reinstall them back and hophely you fixed the problem.
run it again and if it start sneezing again and you are 100% shure your carbs are clean you might want to look into the next thing.
check all the fuellines for leaks.
do it step by step so you can trace the problem.
do not adjust any timing or linkage adjustments other than the choke and trothlevalve link and synq.

i dont think changing the sparkplugs is the problem if he installed them propper.

reeldutch
