Any marina selling BRP (Johnson / Evinrude) outboards can get you the correct paint.
If I spent the money on a new set of decals (and I have) I would definately get the accurate color match paint to do the job right.
As far as tips go, the rubber / plastic seal at the bottom of the cowl needs to be pulled away from the cowl just a bit while you paint otherwise it will not look good when you are finished painting. (kind of like when you paint a wall in your house with the baseboard still on, it's hard to get a nice finished look) You can slip a piece of cord in between the seal and the cowl to accomplish this. When I did the same job on my cowl I discovered that no matter how hard I tried, I could not get the aformentioned seal clean so I painted it with regular white aerosol paint.

Here is one i am working on right now for my boat,91 225 johnsonda'd the whole lower end down to the bare allminum and primed with etching primer for allum. then 2 coat gloss white. the cowl is fiber glass took that down to bare and resealed it and hit it with 2 coats also. having cusum decals made at the print shop sorta like the one on the E TeC motors, nice waving flag with johnson on it but a little bit bigger:D

Nice job on both motors!
I for one have a real appreciation for a clean fresh looking outboard. I try to keep my 2 24 year old motors looking as good as possible and I've bought so much paint at my local marina that the guy started calling me Picaso. IMO nothing looks worse than a cruddy looking motor on an otherwise good looking boat.
BTW deac did you buy your decals from nana?

My seal on one of my cowl paint jobs was really faded and I removed it and dyed it in hot water with clothes dye. Worked really well.
