I have a 1978 Johnson 70hp outboard that has been having bog issues, well after going through carbs I began checking the fuel pump and noticed that after I replaced the fuel hoses to pump and carbs I couldn't get the primer bulb on gas tank to get hard and I noticed gas spitting out the back of the fuel pump out of a little factory made hole in metal plate??? I got engine started and it was still spitting out gas through this hole. See picture. Do I need new fuel pump?

No Title

here is a pic of the hole where gas is leaking from. Apparently there isn't a rebuild kit for this pump so I guess I need a new one...

It may take a little effort to find the repair parts.----Take the pump apart and inspect.---Look at parts in some of the kits to see which kit you need to buy !

Did some searching, the fuel pump on there is #318374 and there doesn't seem to be a rebuild kit for that pump anywhere. I took it apart and the last diaphragm has a tear and looks pretty wrinkled and wore out. I'll do some more searching, might be able to cobble something together from a rebuild kit or just order a new one...that might be less of a headache. Thanks

There IS a rebuild kit for it. I bought one last season. I don't know the part number though. Search my username for threads regarding my 1978 Evinrude 75hp....i believe i posted it.
