1978 M800 ob

Did mercury make a 1978 m800 that is a 4 stroke motor ? I can't find any answers on this and the guy that is selling can't find the SN #
The asking price is good but the drive is not if it is junk
And the seller knows nothing , just bought the boat and now is being deployed overseas

Absolutely not a 4 stroke.

If it is a 1978 Merc, it is likely a 2 cycle, 4 cylinder inline motor, probably 80HP. Pretty old motor. Worth maybe $300, if freshwater used.
