Well I guess its time to get this new project started, its been moth balled since last summer and I finally yanked it into the garage a couple weeks ago to get started on her. Kinda stumbled across the boat last summer and couldnt pass it up since I traded for a couple guns I had about $300 into. Pictures are from last summer when I drug it home, havent done much to it other than firing up the the motor which is a '79 Johnson 70hp. You pop the hood and it all looks brand new under it, the PO said he had the whole engine gone through just before it got parked for the last couple years. I hooked up the gas and battery, hit the key for a second and it fired right up and purrrrrrred. On the drawing board is pretty much going through the whole thing, transom, floor, paint, repaint and decal of the motor, seats need some new wood bottoms......... Should be fun.

Boy you can't beat that deal Charlie, it looks like you have a real nice set of bones there to start with, and a real bonus the motor runs well.

Nice project you've got there:)

If you decide that 70hp is just not enough power, I would be happy to help you find a new home for it, that's one great motor:D

I know! I'm thinking I may just drop it off at your house since you're doing so well on yours.

That rig should be a great one for the big lake, rivers and inland lakes too.

Do you plan on rigging it for trolling or more for small lakes?

I don't think he works like we do dj:facepalm::rolleyes:

Check the time stamps on his Falcon, barely over two months start to float.

Yet another boat re builder who makes us look silly.

Few long weekends he should have this one wrapped up:D

Started working on it at 10 this morning, floor is tore out and the Gluvit is drying. Post pictures later. BAHAHAAHA, just kidding. I did head up to Menards, they looked happy to see me as usual. Had to pick up some lumber to build me a fancy engine stand. Got my gluvit and a tube of 5200 on order also.

Oh come on you two, your both doing a fantastic job. You've got twice as much boat as the Falcon was, Jas your doing two boats now and Dave you work for a bunch of slave drivers, plus you probably have to pick up Brads slack around there since hes to busy figuring where in the yard he's going to bury all his overtime money.

Not sure if Im going to put downriggers on it, Im thinking more Walleye boat, havent ever gone after em and its something Ive been wanting to figure out. So pulling dipsy's and planner boards might be more what Im looking at.

Yur funny dood! Yah, I have a contractors account over there at Menards, they love to see me too.

I'll say this...

Working on the little Jet is a whole different ball game compared to that big Islander. Everything is sooooo much easier!

That's the direction I'm headed with my SS too...just not enough Kings around anymore to justify downriggers. Plus, dipsy's and planer boards are much easier on the budget:)

I'm sure Charlie will be on the water before all three of us:facepalm:

I was at your Menards last night. Picked up 2 more sheets of 1/2" marine ply and 2 sheets of 1 1/2" foam board.

IF your as fast as Jas says, I might have to swing by and see if some of that speed rubs off on me....:D

They do look a little bit alike dont they. Yours looks a little beefier than mine, but then you have twice as much motor. I just used some 2 1/2 inch construction screws to hold it all together, I think it will work. Now I just need to figure out how to get the motor off....... why did I not by the chain hoist from that garage sale for $5 this past summer?

I picked one up from Harbor Freight pretty cheap, I can't believe I went without it for as long as I did. I'm not a fan of Harbor Freight stuff but mine has worked pretty dern well.
