Yea the pinion gear nut is off and the pinion will not come off due to the foward gearI am not there looking over your shoulder.----There is a nut on the bottom of the driveshaft , is that off ?
Thanks will try that tomorrow after this scratched up eye heals somePut driveshaft in a hefty vice.----Use 2X4 to protect gear housing. and give it a bump with a hefty hammer.---As stated I can not see what you are doing !
Have to replace bearing what if I drilled out the upper bearing without hitting shaft or gear housing? Thanks will try that tomorrow after this scratched up eye heals some
Now I’m really confused tried looking up parts by serial on boats.net it shows a differ bearing pic is bearing that is on my 1150 thunderbolt the one I’m using the gear case and trying to get the drive shaft out??----Just do what you think is best.----What type of drill bit do you plan to use on this bearing ?
And this bearing is the one that’s on drive shaft from the merc115 foot I crackedNow I’m really confused tried looking up parts by serial on boats.net it shows a differ bearing pic is bearing that is on my 1150 thunderbolt the one I’m using the gear case and trying to get the drive shaft out
A small one if I decide to do that thinking about heating up the shaft and see if that won’t break something loose??----What drill bit are you planning to use ?
One is flat looking from top looks as if it has ball bearings and other is a tapered roller bearing not the sameLooks to be the same bearing to me.......LM 11949
Florence alabama and 2.5 hours away I found a guy who was selling off everything he had so he could move and retire from engine work so for 250 I got entire merc 850 trying to get the aggravating shift shaft now to line upWhere are you located? I have an old IL6 gearcase laying around.
Yea I have never seen the plastic piece on any lower u it I got and got it on and other night took forever to get up on plane and pick up speed but hit 30 without trimming it out to see how fast it was dark and coming up on no wake zone reason I didn’t trim it but I have my hydrofoil on and the prop I use is a 21p and going back out tonight and see what it will do with hydrofoil and trimming it outAn 850 likely has a 2.3::1 gear ratio. Your IL6 gearcase is likely 2::1. So, you may need a new prop pitch to restore top speed.
Make sure to install the plastic piece in the midsection, so it will hold the upper shift shaft in a good place to line up with the lower shift shaft. use needle nose plier to make final correction if necessary. Rock throttle handle to mate shift shafts.
Ran smooth last night best it has ever planes out nice and quick max speed according to garmin was at 32. Thanks for all the input will try to remember it allYea I have never seen the plastic piece on any lower u it I got and got it on and other night took forever to get up on plane and pick up speed but hit 30 without trimming it out to see how fast it was dark and coming up on no wake zone reason I didn’t trim it but I have my hydrofoil on and the prop I use is a 21p and going back out tonight and see what it will do with hydrofoil and trimming it out
