Just use the CDI 193-5114 Rectifier/Regulator 3-Wire, about same price as the ebay one and requires no heat sink.....

Re: 1979 115hp merc voltage to high

Got the rect/reg and installed it today. Had only 5 wires. Never could count past one hand. I was able to install where the old one was. I had to countersink one existing hole and dremel off the edge of the mounting to allow the new one to lay flat. I put some old heat transfer stuff under it that I had from years ago for mounting CPU's in computers. If anyone needs the old one (tested good with ohmmeter) you can have it for postage. I'll never use it. If this one fails I will always replace with a rect/regulator. Thank you everyone for all your help. :):D Had 3" of snow this morning probable won't check it out till next week. Still waiting for some other parts anyway.

Got the boat out for a short while yesterday. The rect/reg works very well. Held at about 13.8 for some time and gradually dropped to around 13 and stayed there. Feel much better about my electronics now. Thanks again for everyones help with this matter.
