No one can dispute the fact that no other method will add more flotation than pour in foam.

Oh man, I'm responding, rats!

I can dispute...

Seeing all of these decks come up here on the forum it seems about 50/50 (I feel I'm being fery generous with that number) that the pour in foam actually fills all the "nooks and crannies". Dave, your boat is an excellent example of actually filling all of those voids but it sure seems like we see lots of empty space from many of these pour in foam jobs. Especially the DIY examples.

My opinion, here's the key to the pour in foam...

Get the right kind of foam (I have no idea what that is), do an good job filling, and provide for drainage to the bilge. Get that complete total package, and I'm all for it! (Oh ya, and make it priced for the bottom feeders too:))

Ok, now I'm out:D

Right, I make the assumption that the pour-in-job is done correctly (filling it all). Then there is that line "how much is enough"? In my mind, I poured all mine in under ideal conditions, and I know how much the expansion rate is, so by my calculations i'm WAY over. There is no "I think it'll float if swamped". Again, just saying. Oh, did I mention that I've missed you guys. Nothing like a good foam debate!!!

Does anyone want to see a video of me jumping up and down on my 1/2" thick deck???:D

Yeah, well, at least I can say my boat doesn't fly rainbow colors, even if they are hidden under the deck........:D

Seriously, though, it's going to be fun to watch the couple new 22'ers on here. I was lonely.

Sorry, Kyle, that got out of hand as it usually does.....

Do anything more yet?

...Welcome to iboats and to the the largest collection of Starcraft nuts on the planet.

Welcome I am not tinny guy, but what ez said above is an understatement...they even have a clan of kool-aid drinkers called the starmada. The organize quickly and are a very knowledgeable group...it's possible I've said to much already?

Just curious, as my last name is Johnston as well and I have family in your neck of the woods (Buffalo...really Ransomville, NY) You have any family in that area?

Congrats,

hey guys sorry, been super busy with the boat. dug out all the rotten spray in foam, i wouldn't wish that job on the worst of enemies... cut out the floor, did it in olymer board... very resistent to water, 3/4 inch just incase i need to land a jet on it hahaha... going to tighten up the rivets and stuff when the days permit, retighten, some glovit and then foam... i'll get pictures up asap. p.s. the website for the wood is olypanel.com seems like super good stuff and is fairly light compared to 3/4 ply or marine board!

take care guys!

Coming along... Floors done, i laid down duradek, putting in the seats, compartment lids, trim, toys, etc... hopefully this week. I'll be sure to post. The paint job turned out good, unfortunately I didn't spend a rediculous amount of time sanding so it's not perfect by any means.... I'd like to thank Wood on Glass for the help and encouragement! take care boys.... pics will be up shortly!
