5/8" for the floor is good. 1708 will be fine, but is way over kill in my opinion. When ever you are working with fiberglass you always precoat the wood with resin, always. When it starts to tack up and cure then apply the CSM. When working on large areas I like to pour the resin on the glass in the middle and then use a 8" plastic putty knife and drag the resin over the mat to wet it out, Draggin from the middle out towards the edges, and then use a 4" Chip Brush with 1/2 the bristles cut off to DAB the mat down into the resin as it starts to set up I roll it down with the bubble roller to make sure its secure and laying flat. It always works well for me and I get level flat surfaces. I only use rollers on the 1708. Also with resin LESS is MORE. You can always add more resin but it's hard to remove it when you pour on to much.
