I have a 1982 Johnson 90HP with a bad cylinder. 3 cylinders measure out at 115 compression and the fourth is 75. Had a marine mechanic look at it, that I trust, and he said likely not just gaskets and rings but will need bore and refit or sleeving.

I found a 1979 Evinrude 115HP that I could pickup for less. What I am wondering is if the 115 powerhead would bolt up to the 90HP lower

I have heard the carbs of a 115HP fit easy enough to a 90HP and actually make the 90 into a 115 but I don't know if the powerheads swap easily OR how he 79 fits to an 1982?

Any help would be great!

The 1979 block will bolt up. It has the larger intake ports, so you may want to use the 115 carburetors even though they have chokes.

Thanks Ezeke!

I was planning on using everything from the 115 powerhead on up. Basically unbolting the 90HP bad powerhead and bolting the 115 powerhead and all right to it. Hoping its that easy but I'M SURE its not...Life just isnt! :D
