1979 Evinrude 140 carb orifice plug adjustments?

I was wondering if anyone could lead me in the right direction concerning the adjustment of the jets in my carbs. The service manual, to the best of my knowledge, doesn't elaborate on this. Do I simply screw the jets back in snug and go, or is there a proper means of adjusting them? If they are not screwed all the way in and snuggged up, they are really loose and I am worried they will only vibrate and move around on me. I'm at a total lose on this one? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks................ALAN

Internal jets are fixed and there are no adjustment. If you are talking about the idle mixture screws on the outside of the carbs, they are turned in until lightly seated. Then back them out 1-1/2 turn. Fine tune them and idle speed with the engine in the water -- not on muffs.

I'm talking about the orifice plugs located directly behind the screw plugs. I see no mention of an idle mixture screw in the manual?

The orfice plugs are screwed snugly all the way in. Otherwise fuel would bypass them around the threads and they would do no good. Their job is to precisely meter the fuel.

I see no mention of an idle mixture screw in the manual? Am I missing something here, or is this adjustment simply not present on my carbs?

The orifices are all fixed. No adjustments.
