well yesterday i took my lil 15hp out for its first run in yrs....it had sat up for 4yrs and was froze and i managed to free it up and getting it running again....it ran ok for awhile then i noticed it start to lose power...so brought it home and did a compression check on it ...30 psi on top and 110 on bottom...pulled head today and seen a big gouge on the bottom of the cyl...pretty deep and wide..plus a small piece missing from the piston on the lower left of it....

i'd like to find a good used powerhead for it and just pop it on and be done with ...do you think it would be worth it do a rebuild on it? i'll prob just replace the top piston and have it overbored...bottom cyl looks good so i'll just re-ring it...whatcha think caused a deep and wide gouge like that??

also can anyone else get on the BRP site to look at the diagrams? its asking me for a password now...

A wrist pin retainer failed that allowed the wrist pin to drop down which destroyed that cylinder sleeve. If you go the rebuild route, that sleeve will require replacing.

thanks Joe...looks like a rebuild is not cost effective then...i'll try to find a used powerhead instead....i prob cracked the wrist pin when i was trying un freeze it :(
