1979 evinrude 85 hp tilt trim

My 1979 evinrude tilt trim will function, in the up mode. But it will NOT go down. I must loosen<br />screw on mounting bracket to lower motor. What is<br />wrong?

I am experiencing the same thing. So far I have learned that evinrudes fail in the up position when low on fluid. I can't keep mine from sticking once it hits the full up position despite having enough fluid. To further confuse things, after setting, it seems to work again.<br />Let me know if you figure it out.

i had the same problem with mine it was still low of fluid and had air in it but i wanted to know if the lines going to the cylinders have o-rings on them for mine is leaking, the lines look new but they leak when it goes up
