Cole loves the boat! 001.JPGDon't worry, this is not a post on a mechanical or electrical issue, just a question:

Do any of you know anything about a 1979 Evinrude Scout 24 trolling motor?
Model# EB84R
Serial Number: E0001083

This is the trolling motor I have on my bass boat right now (came with it) and I am getting ready to replace it with a new trolling motor with more Ummpgh.

The problem is, other than the fact this motor is in fact a 24v, and is foot controlled, I can't find any other information. Like- how many lbs of thrust? Attached is a picture of the motor in a stowed position. Cole the big cat is laying close and guarding it. He does this very well.

If you know what direction to point me in, I would be truly appreciative!

Thanks!

God bless y'all! These forums are fantastic!

As far as thrust is concerned, I would imagine it's right around "not much". They don't build 'em like they used to, and that's a good thing. Chances are, any modern bow-mount TM will have more thrust and use less juice, to boot. What size and weight boat is this?

Truly, the thrust is between nada and null. This trolling motor is definitely more "nastalgic" in value. :)

When the water is calm and no wind, it will pull the boat just enough to tell we're moving.. :) I am replacing it with a 46lb ish thrust motor. I am still not sure if I'll go MotorGuide or Minnkota but anything above 30lbs sbhould zip me around quite nicely.
My boat is a '78 16' Chrysler Bass Runner. It's a light trihull- weighs around 1200lbs full of gear, gas and peeps.
