1979 Glastron ssv-177 outdrive question

My question is about the 1979 Glastron ssv -140 outdrive with a mercruiser 140 h.p. Can anyone tell me if a Mercruiser Type I pre 1985 888 outdrive will fit? Thanks

The 888 Outdrive will Bolt On,........
But,.......
It's the Wrong Gear Ratio,.... 1.5/1.....
You need a 2/1.......

And,.......
No,..... You can Not make up the difference with a Prop Change..........
