1979 Johnson 115 re installing flywheel.

So in light of my motor's electrical problem i posted before (not firing on one bank), i have decided i will remove flywheel to inspect stator, and magnets. I have seen plenty of how to videos for removing the flywheel but barely anything on re-installing it. Is there a process for this? Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks.

just line up the woodruff key and crank on the nut to spec. strong impact gun should do it, don't use any lube. do not use any grease/oil

Sorry for my ignorance but i am not familiar with this woodruff key and crank you speak of. Could you clarify? Thanks.

Make sure you get the nut to torque specs for your particular motor. Under torqued flywheel nuts will shear the flywheel key.

That's another thing. Where do i find such spec? I have a 79' johnson 115

Tork the nut to 100 FT-LBS

Its in the factory service manual if you have one. There should be a torque specs section. I have a 1975 Evinrude 115HP and it is 100 FT LBS
