Thought I would share my misery with you all !!
There come a time in every man?s life when we realize that we did not merry that billionaires daughter nor will we ever win that dam power ball lottery !! should we have stayed in school got a degree and end up working for mega $$$$$$$$ nope we all end up going to work for some company and give thanks for what we make for a living !! in my case I put in almost 70 hours in 5 days yes I drive a 18 wheeler and get to come home for a 34 hour restart so 8 to 10 hours to do what I want to do!!!
It all started last spring!! I told my boss that I was going to take 3 days off and go fishing and do some crabbing and said it all in a tone and manor that all he could say was ok! ( NOT REALLY I HAD TO GET ON MY KNEE?S AND BEGGED FOR THE DAY?S OFF) the week before I got the boat and everything ready to go! So my day starts everything is ready and off I go I get 10 miles down the road and the driver side rear spring mount has rusted through and it all falls apart!! Dam it all to hell !!! two years no vacation and I take 3 days for me and this is what I get!!!!
Well I spend the rest of the spring and summer building a new tandem axle boat trailer! I had priced out the new trailers and just could not give up that kind of money for what I was going to get!! So I built my own out of 2x4x1/8 metal tubing I planned it all so it was all sealed by welds!! I get it all done and the boat on the new trailer and get everything set. And my oldest son jumps into the boat to help put the crab pot on and Dam were one of his shoes hand landed on the deck I got a new 12? foot size hole !!!! teach me to buy used this is total bull @^%* I just had that dam deck replaced in 1998 at a cost of some were about $2500 bucks
Well what did I get myself into I think I am IN TO DEEP!!!!
So now I?m back at I get the sazall out the grinders out the die cutter out!!! I pull out the motor and inboard outboard out of the boat and get to work !!! I was told when I paid the first time that all the wood would be marine wood and everything would be seal in fiberglass the stringer the deck and transom!!!!! Nope nada nothing is sealed the ? deck is like a sponge!! I got to where I had all this work done and it is an empty building **** dam it all to hell!!!!!
Sanity is all I can say!!!! if you want something done right the first time you have to do it yourself!!!!

Re: 1979 Orion 19' open bow restore

sorry but in this first picture you can see the walk through on the open bow
but on the bottom toward's the front you can see the old wood still in the nose and the only way i can see to replace that is to cut out the walkway
and i really really do not wish to do that
i was thinking of laminating a new front piece in fiberglass and fiberglassing it in over the top of the old piece
any one think of a better way besides cutting up the front section???

thanks

That's how I did my 19' bayliner bowrider. Cut out the rot leaving 1-2" at the edges. Cleaned up the mess under it (plugged drains) and then capped it w/ 1/2" ply. Peanut buttered the gaps and leading edge to a little ramp. Haven't tripped over it yet. Good luck
