Very nice work, I think the inside of my starcraft will end up very similar.

If you get a chance, could you measure the width of your motor cutout in the transom? I am converting my SS from I/O to outboard and think the design and splash well layout of your Slyvan will be the easiest to accomplish on mine.

Thanks, Jeff

I finally got the engine running. I also added a tell tail. I'm still not sure about how my controls work? I don't know how to increase throttle in neautral.

Should this much oil be in the water? I had to run engine in tote because muffs did not produce enough pressure. I don't think I ran the engine maybe ten minutes total.

Also patched small screw hole I found on underside of boat. I used an aluminum rivet and some waterweld epoxy.

The round thing in the center of the shifter.....is that a button that can be pushed in? That typically how you rev them in the neutral. And yes, an old 2 stroke outboard in a bucket will make a big oil mess.

Dirt Farmer, Thank you for the compliment. The cutout for the transom is 33w x 16h. Good luck with your project. I am nearing compleation after 15 months and the wife and I can't wait.

ez, Thank you also. It is a button and does allow revving in neutral. It's a wonder that were not forced to stop using motors that deposit oil in the water.

The wife and I finally get the boat moved to Delaware. Check my other thread where everything was damaged by a DUI driver. I should have just kept everything in one thread but I was not thinking.

We take the boat over to Slaughter Beach on Saturday but, it is really windy. I'm new to boating in the bay so I decide to ask a few boaters coming in.

First one tells me not to go out. Second one tells me that only @#$%^& idiots would be out there right know.
The winds were 19 mph with rough chop.

My wife was disappointed but, better safe then sorry. I'm a ROOKIE at present and don't want to push my luck.

We decide to take it back out this morning. Great weather with winds up to 5 mph. The water looked great. It was a learning experience getting the boat off the trailer. I try starting the motor for a good 15-20 mins. and finally give up.
We load the boat back up and head back to camp. We have 175 mile drive to get home and i'm not in the mood to play around.

So, me and the wife are discussing this mornings disappointment on the drive home and it hit me:D I said what an idiot. What a ROOKIE mistake. I was not thinking. You guys told me what to do because I asked you and I forgot.

The motor would not start because I kept choking it.

I will be going back in two weeks so we will try again. I just wanted to get it out a couple times before the end of season.

Welcome back and congrats on at least getting it wet...sorry to hear about the engine not wanting to start...for what its worth, its a learning experience...I certainly have been there and had that and many other "Noob" mistakes......heck I probably still have a few left in me...

BTW, the boat looks awesome! Very nice job...the stripes look GRRRRRR-8!:D

Also, sorry to hear about the DUI incident, hope everyone is OK...put up a link in your signature, for the full story...

Thank you, budski & Gus

It has been an interesting year. We did not get chance to run the boat. It will be two years from purchase when it finally happens next year.

I will post a link as soon as I figure out how?
